Hanohano Ocean Challenge

This Saturday was a refreshing break from a very wet week of unusual SoCal rain. If the rain continued, we would have been able to start racing our SUP boards and outriggers down Mission Blvd.! Not sure if those vehicles are street legal, but I guess paddling on an actual street would be the only thing fun about having so much rain. Needless to say I was surprised to see so many people come out and sign up to race in the beautiful crystal unclear brown water, our lovely San Diego Bay at Bonita Cove. I think everyone was just itchin to finally get outside and feel as much sun as they could. Hopefully those that fell in the water weren’t “itchin” due to a rash they received from the water. (Did anyone else notice the weird “toilet bowl” like movement the water was doin right where the starting line was?) Enough of being sarcastic….. Dan Van Dyke, the Hanohano crew, and sponsors like OEX, K5, Huki, Rogue, Maui Jim, Quick Blade and Wahoo’s put on an amazing event with a more than great turnout for a week that rained like crazy. I think everyone was SUPER stoked to see the sun peak out for the event. Here are some photos.

When it's cold outside there's no shame in what you wear. Fashion is out, being warm is in, so don't knock my snowboarding socks!

Look Ma, no hands!
