ASC provides a range of accelerometers for the power sector.
Accelerometers for wind farms
ASC manufactures piezorestistive, piezoelectric and capacitive accelerometers, as well as inertial measurement units (IMU) and angular rate sensors (Gyros). ASC sensors are used in a range of industrial applications, including railways, wind farms and space travel.
In the power generation industry, ASC sensors are used predominately by wind turbine manufacturers, wind farm operators, research and development institutes and universities and system integrators.

During factory acceptance tests, accelerometers can be used to judge the structural integrity of wind turbine blades. They can also be used to measure wind turbine sway and seismic movement.
ASC accelerometers are robust, with high-heat resistance. ASC products are ideal for use in development departments because they are delivered quickly and in small batches.
Vibration analysis technology
Vibration analysis technology is used to detect and predict the failure of mechanical equipment and components.
ASC accelerometers are used to monitor power generation equipment. The company’s products can monitor the vibrations of gearboxes, generators, shafts, blades and bearings in wind turbines. The early detection of problems can help prevent mechanical failures.
ASC’s direct current (DC) response accelerometers (capacitive type) provide a frequency response down to 0Hz. This helps in monitoring the wind turbine main shaft and input gearbox bearings below rotational speeds of 0.5Hz, which is an industry requirement for wind turbine condition monitoring systems.
ASC’s alternating current (AC) response sensors (piezoelectric, integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) type) are suitable for measuring vibrations across the full wind turbine, including the low frequency end and the gearbox stages and generator, providing an upper frequency response in excess of 10kHz.
Maintenance and calibration services
ASC also offers supplementary services for its own products and third-party products. The company provides calibration, maintenance and repair services, as well as customised solutions to meet the needs of the client. The company has many years of experience and expertise and ASC staff are familiar with products from a wide range of manufacturers.
The Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) awarded the calibration laboratory of ASC the authority to execute calibrations according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for the measurand ‘acceleration’.
